How much is too much?

With the modern technologies available at man's disposal currently, nothing is impossible (as the Nike slogan shouts) . The "man" can build a nano-motor to a storage dam with breathtaking accuracy and efficiency. Anything he deems necessary is made feasible by paying off certain costs with the environment, which are ofcourse collateral damage. Anyway, that would be digressing from what I intend to state in this post. As the title clearly conveys when does a person know if the time is ripe for closure. Closure for anything. Love, Peace, Lifestyle, Habits, Information and quite a few things.

When can one clearly identify the point of no return, the point beyond which there is only a one-way ticket to perdition?

If not, is there only one way to find out the destination of the journey? (I hope not.)

Or does one have to experience them to make a better call the next time around (if we get a second chance) ? This does remind me of the movie "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind".
